AFNET
HISTORY
The Atrial Fibrillation NETwork (AFNET) was founded in 2003 as one of 21 research networks in Germany funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF). Since then, AFNET has developed from a BMBF-funded national research network for health into an internationally recognised, non-profit academic research organisation based in Germany.
AFNET was founded with the aim of combining basic, translational and clinical research to improve the lives of patients with atrial fibrillation. These roots have been the basis for the planning and execution of national and international clinical trials, monitoring research projects, basic and translational research projects, contributions to international research consortia and international consensus conferences.
